How to get lucky with horseshoes

A horse walking in shoes. Header for Hattingdon article.

Well here we are again. Yes, we hear quite a bit about this. The most asked question? Should horseshoes be hung up or down? Here is a good starter.

Key takeaways

The orientation of a horseshoe, whether up or down, is subject to superstition and cultural beliefs.

Hanging it with the open end facing up is believed to collect and hold luck while offering protection. In contrast, hanging it with the open end facing down is thought to allow luck to flow freely and attract positive energy.

The choice of orientation is a personal matter, and individuals often follow what aligns with their ocultural background and/or intentions for luck or protection or just for fun.

Oh. Before you go, you may want to see this article. “Horseshoe for Luck Up or Down”? Find it at https://magickalspot.com/horseshoe-for-luck-up-or-down/ .

The interwebs (as Vivian calls them) are full of this stuff by the way. But you probably already know that.

Thank you for spending time with us. We enjoy it.

About July 20th

Colorful lolipops header. Wow.

Hello there and welcome to our hat loving, hat wearing hat cartoon horse called Hattingdon. Look at this.

Did you know that July 20th is indeed the 201st day of the year in the Gregorian calendar?

In a standard year, there are 164 days remaining after this date, while in a leap year, July 20th is the 202nd day, with 163 days left in the year. This date typically falls in the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere, often associated with various summer activities. At least 15 holidays and observances fall on that date.

Crown Prince Haakon’s Day is a Norwegian observance marking the birthday of Crown Prince Haakon.  Global Hug Your Kids Day  was established to encourage parents to hug their children and to honor children who are no longer present to receive one.  Lempira Day  is a Honduran national holiday honoring Lempira, the indigenous Lenca chief who resisted Spanish conquest and died in 1537 — his name is still the country’s currency.  National Pennsylvania Day celebrates Pennsylvania’s history, culture, and its role as the site of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutional Convention. The above is refreshed each year as new observances are added. Here are a couple we love:

Moon Day marks July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon while Michael Collins orbited above in the command module, in what NASA described as humanity’s greatest technological achievement.

And then there is . . . [drumroll please], Lollipop Day.

Lollipop Day

Today is NATIONAL LOLLIPOP DAY, which marks the invention of the modern lollipop — credited to George Smith of New Haven, Connecticut.

Look at these fabulous lollipops. Wow. How colorful and so pretty. It inspired a pretty striped classic hat for our Hattingdon.

Bowl of lollipops in fabulous, colorful stripes and swirls. Wow!

Classic Candy Hat

Hattingdon wears a striped classic hat in candy inspired colors. She holds a decorative lollipop in her mouth. How sweet it is.

Mr Smith trademarked the name “Lolly Pop” in 1931 following the creation of the stick-candy in 1908.  Thank you Mr Smith! More at this link.

We love those delicious colors. Sweeeeet! It is one of the very early classics. Hope you enjoyed it. See you again soon.

INSPIRATION — Summer Breeze, by the Isley Brothers

Oh, oh-oh, yeah
Summer breeze, oh, na-na
Oh-oh, yeah
Summer breeze, oh, na-na-na
No, no, no, no, it’s all in my mind
No, no, no, no, it’s all in my mind

Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Oh, summer (summer breeze) makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
All in my mind

See the curtain’s hanging in the window
In the evening on a Friday night
A little light shining through the window
Let me know every, everything’s alright

Oh, summer (summer breeze), you make me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Oh, summer breeze (summer breeze) makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

Sweet days of summer, the jasmine’s in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
When I come home from a hard day’s work
And you’re waiting there, not a care in the world

See the smile waiting in the kitchen
Food cooking on the plates for two
Feel the arms reaching out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through

Oh, summer (summer breeze) makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Oh, summer (summer breeze) makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind

Oh, summer breeze.
__________

Love to you all.

July 9 Holidays

Hattingdon colorful multi colors for June and Summer with Logo in white.

Fashion Day was established to celebrate fashion as both an industry and an art form. The global fashion industry employs more than 300 million people and generates approximately $2.5 trillion in annual revenue.

Examples

July 9 is the 190th day of the year. More than 10 holidays and observances fall on that date. [That’s nice.]

Call of the Horizon Day was created to encourage people to plan a journey toward something that has felt just out of reach. [Hmmm.]

International Emergency Kit Day was established by the American Red Cross to encourage every household to prepare an emergency supply kit for natural disasters. Yes!

National ‘Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Omelet Day‘ is the whimsical observance encouraging portfolio diversification, financial planning, and broadly applied risk awareness.  Really? Oh my. Sigh.

Nunavut Day is a public holiday in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, established on July 9, 1993, when the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement was signed — the largest Indigenous land claim settlement in Canadian history.
