Bee a honey

Honey Hattingdon fashion hat accompanied by two darling bees. Hattingdon Horses.

Hello there. We are especially happy you stopped by because we have another new hat.

Vivian suddenly had the idea of making a beehive inspired hat. It is little bit literal and a little bit whimsical. Here it is.

The color is glorious. Sunny and golden and bright and fun. Hattingdon looks absolutely darling.

As you can see, Hattingdon has attracted two curious little bees to keep her company. Aren’t they cute?

Vivian named the hat “Honey”. What else? Wink. Click to Shop at Zazzle below. We have a greeting card, square stickers, a flat magnet and unisex kids tees and ladies tees.

Bees important

We owe a lot to our bees. Here is just some of their importance.

Open Quote

Bees have cultural and environmental importance as pollinators and producers of honey and medicinal products. The movement of pollen between plants is necessary for plants to fertilize and reproduce. Both farmed and wild bees control the growth and quality of vegetation — when they thrive, so do crops.

Vivian’s Fave Hats: Letter J

We are doing something a little bit different. We are are presenting a special set of hats. The design name is Jenny Rose, created with the Kentucky Derby Festival in mind. Hattingdon was “born” in Louisville by the way.

Let’s start off with the classic hat followed with two gorgeous fashion hats.

We have two for you. A picture hat, and a “slice”.

The Jennie Rose series are some of the most popular hats Vivian has ever created.

Red Roses and the Derby

Red roses became a Kentucky Derby tradition in the early 1880s. Back in 1883, ladies who attended Derby parties around Louisville all received a red rose.

The Churchill Downs President at the time, Colonel Meriwether Lewis Clark, saw what a success the roses were, and decided to make the association between the flower and the Kentucky Derby in 1884.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

After about a year or two of making hats for Hattingdon, Mrs Farrell created a basic hat silhouette and immediately began to design for it. She called it the “classic hat.” Let’s go and look at your favorites.

Ahem. Before we go . . . the Hattingdon Classic Hat Club also voted (without our asking them — they are a rowdy crowd) what is their favourite Classic Hat for Christmas.

They have done a good job. The result . . . ?

Zea Cinematic

Hattingdon is off to the cinema to take in a movie. And she has the “picture perfect” hat to wear. It is a novelty hat based on popcorn, the kind you get at the movies in a red and white striped box.

This is a recreated version of the first one made by Hattingdon’s hatmaker, Mrs Farrell. She chose the name Zea which is part of the classification name for the type of maize that popcorn is made from.

See you again here soon!
