Today, September 20th, is Hattingdon creator Vivian Grant’s birthday. She is healthy and going strong. Hooray. Oh, and she loves chocolate. So she chose a chocolate cake.

Birthday Thanks
Vivian writes: “I offer many thanks to my forebearers who are instrumental in my longevity and good health,” writes Vivian. “I am also so thankful for all the wonderful birthday wishes I have received, and am still receiving. Thank you with all my heart.”
Hey, did you see this? “Oldest known human drawing was discovered, a hashtag-like abstract drawing with red ochre, 73,000 years old, in Blombos Cave, South Africa published in Nature.’ Wow.
Hattingdon creator Vivian has a creative mind, no doubt it, but she never thought of herself as an artist or dreamed she ever would or could be. She couldn’t even draw. Then she came across the Photoshop program, ordered it, taught herself to use it, and the rest as they say is history.
Curtis the First
The first Hattingdon she created was Curtis.
Curtis Hattingdon.
Curtis was a huge hit, and gained quite a large following. Then one of her friends suggested she make a “lady” Hattingdon. Again, she was not quite sure she could do it. But she could . . . and did. Harper was born.

What is that old saying? “You never know until you try”.
Thank you for spending time with us. We hope you enjoyed it.
E. E. Cummings (1894-1962) was among the most influential, widely read, and revered modernist poets. His many awards included an Academy of American Poets Fellowship, two Guggenheim Fellowships, and the Bollingen Prize. Among his many volumes are The Enormous Room and Tulips & Chimneys.
Hattingdon creator Vivian states, “It is Mr. Cumming’s Butterfly poem (read below) which inspired me to create this hat.

Butterfly (poem)
Butterfly, the wind blows sea-ward, strong beyond the garden-wall! Butterfly, why do you settle on my shoe, and sip the dirt on my shoe, Lifting your veined wings, lifting them? big white butterfly!
Already it is October, and the wind blows strong to the sea from the hills where snow must have fallen, the wind is polished with snow. Here in the garden, with red geraniums, it is warm, it is warm but the wind blows strong to sea-ward, white butterfly, content on my shoe!
Will you go, will you go from my warm house? Will you climb on your big soft wings, black-dotted, as up an invisible rainbow, an arch till the wind slides you sheer from the arch-crest and in a strange level fluttering you go out to sea-ward, white speck!
Note: Due to illness and myriad complications, we have become way behind in our posting. Please bear with us as we “catch up”. Thank you. — Hattingdon Horses.
Isn’t this the cutest little football helmet? We no longer have the full size artwork; just the thumbnail. Maybe we can talk Vivian into recreating it in a larger version.
