Tracey fashion

Hello and welcome. It is so nice to see you.

Today we have a special treat. Hattingdon models one of her earliest toppers, a vintage saucer hat in black with oval disk and chunky leaf motif.

Hattingdon creator Vivian made it in four colorways — a luscious lavender, grass green, sunny yellow and raspberry pink. She named the design Tracey.

Sweeeeeeet!

The disappearance and surprising reappearance of this hat is a mystery. We are still trying to figure it out. It looks to be one of Vivian’s earlier creations, doesn’t it?

The color combination is luscious— vibrant purple, hot pink and a wonderful sort of “olive” or khaki. Purple nosebobs complete the look.

We love a good mystery. If we ever figure out how she got “lost” and then found, we will be sure to let you know.

P.S. We updated the ears.

Warm regards, Hattingdon Horses

Hannah winter

Oooooh, baby, it’s cold outside where we are. How about you? Right now we are at 16°F, and that is with the sun shining. Imagine if it were overcast.

Chilly weather has put us in the mood to post a winter hat, and we have a super cute one. Look.

Hannah wears a tassled winter cap in stripes of burnt orange, royal purple and olive green stripes. Purple earmuffs completes the look. Charming!

Stay safe and warm. Visit awhile. Take a look around. We have dozens and dozens of hats, designed to give you “a hatful of smiles”.

See you again soon. Hattingdon & Co.

Nat’l Cake Day, November 26

Hillary Birthday Cake Hats. Hattingdon Horses.

The Smithsonian Magazine writes:

Slide over pie, it is National Cake Day when cake takes center stage as the dessert of choice.

On most birthdays, the cake is topped with candles no matter their age. Cake is served at showers, weddings, retirements and anniversaries, to name but a few. Add ice cream, and you have America’s two top favorite desserts in the same dish!

Cakes typically contain a combination of flour, sugar, eggs, and butter or oil. Additionally, some variety of liquid, such as milk or water, creates a batter. A leavening agent such as yeast or baking powder helps the cake rise. Flavorful ingredients are often added, for example, chopped nuts, fresh, candied or dried fruit, fruit purees, or extracts. Though we commonly think of cake with frosting or icing, many cakes can be enjoyed with just fruit or other toppings.

Here is Hattingdon modeling two of her birthday cake hats. Delicious! There are more of course. Vivian is rarely satisfied with making just one or two of something.

The Hill Sisters

Have you heard of the mostly unknown sisters behind the song “Happy Birthday to You” — they are Mildred and Patty Hill.

It is a fascinating and sometimes tangled story. We have read quite a few writings on it, and recommend reading the Smithonian’s first. Read it at The Forgotten Sisters Behind ‘Happy Birthday’ at Smithonian Magazine.
